Rituals & Worship

श्री कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी पूजा विधि

About this Book

Shri Krishna Janmashtami Pooja is a sacred midnight ritual celebrating the divine birth of Lord Krishna, typically observed with profound devotion, fasting, and elaborate ceremonies during the Nishita Kaal (midnight hours). The worship begins with the cleaning and decoration of the home altar, featuring a small, ornate cradle (jhula) for Laddu Gopal. At the stroke of midnight, the deity is ceremonially bathed via Panchamrit Abhishek (using milk, curd, honey, sugar, ghee, and holy Gangajal), dried with a fresh cloth, and adorned in vibrant yellow attire (peetambar) alongside a crown, flute, and peacock feather. Devotees then offer sandalwood paste, fresh flowers, and Tulsi leaves—which are indispensable to the ritual—while lighting incense and a pure ghee lamp. The ritual culminates with the offering of a traditional bhog consisting of Makhan-Misri (fresh white butter and rock sugar) and Dhaniya Panjiri, followed by the singing of the celebratory Aarti and the chanting of the Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya mantra to invoke peace, prosperity, and spiritual liberation.
